Let’s be honest here. Imagine you are a guest, searching on Airbnb, looking at dozens of listings and reviewing countless Hosts, what would stand out to you? Pictures would certainly catch your eye. Pricing would absolutely stand out. The location would play a factor. However, there is one item that countless Hosts seem to miss the mark. And that is properly naming their Airbnb. Remember, your listing will more than likely be thrown into the mix with numerous other listings when guests are searching for that perfect space. If the majority of listings are named, “1 Bd / 1 Ba”, “Two Rooms”, or “Charming Room”, etc then take advantage and name your Airbnb something that will stand out from the crowd. Let’s dive into what you need to know and learn the proper way to name your Airbnb!
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet”.
First Things First: The name you give your Airbnb will be one of the first things a guest sees. Start off with a good impression. The right name can make all the difference, and conversely, the wrong name can be detrimental. Be creative. Easier said than done, right? Spend some time thinking about how you want to name your Airbnb.
- Look at your Airbnb as a whole – What is the #1 attribute?
- What makes your Airbnb special?
- Can you incorporate your street to create a clever name?
- Are you close to a local hot spot? This can help add some appeal to your name.
- Clearly, the name needs to be attention grabbing. Have fun with it! Don’t feel like you have to come up with the greatest name on Earth.

What do people see when they are searching on Airbnb? Typically, they type in the destination and a map pops up with listings in that area. Depending on how specific the search is will determine how many listings are presented on the map. However, the map places little pins with a price. That is essentially all a person will see until they click on a pin.
Therefore, your price is the first line of defense, so to speak. See that $99 down at the bottom? That is my Airbnb listing! Now, here is where a creative Airbnb name will help convert “lookers” into “guests”. I small window of your listing will pop up once someone clicks your pin. It will display your cover photo, price, Airbnb name, what type of listing, and guest reviews. Here is what is displayed when my listing is clicked.
If someone wants to view your entire listing, they would simply click somewhere in the small window. For example: Which name do you prefer, “Private Bedroom with Good Location”, or “The Cozy Music City Studio”? For those of you who do not know, Nashville’s is also called Music City. The best advice I give to Airbnb hosts is to brand your name. Make it your own. Create a space that your guests can refer to by name when talking with their family and friends.
“Hey Sara, how was your stay at the Airbnb last week?”
“Great! Staying at The Cozy Music City Studio was everything I hoped for!”
Doesn’t this sound better than, “Great! Staying in the private bedroom with good location was everything I hoped for!”
Brand, brand, brand! Additionally, leave a little to the imagination when creating a name. The point is to get people to click your listing. Make them curious so they will want to know more. When I started my Airbnb I struggled to come up with a proper name. However, I knew that to stand out and make my Airbnb experience better for my guests I needed to create a brand. After pondering and considering all I had to work with I finally came up with my Airbnb name, the Nashville Fort.
- Brand your Airbnb name
- Keep it simple
- Leave a little to the imagination
- Incorporate the essence of your space
- Be creative and have fun with it!
- Doesn’t have to be perfect, just proper
