Top 6 Indoor Security Cameras of 2019
The Top 6 of Indoor Security Cameras
To all of you who are getting into this exciting AirBnb world, there will be a moment when you should ask yourself whether or not you should purchase indoor security cameras for your property. Those reasons can be varied when it comes to protecting your property.
The decision to purchase indoor security cameras entails many factors these days. However, you must also understand that AirBnb makes it very clear that, if you install one on your property, it is completely forbidden to do it in private spaces. Plus, your tenants have to be aware of this dispositive on the property and agree with it.
Thinking carefully and analyzing every detail is the best strategy for your short-term rental to succeed. Think about the welfare of your guests, and your effort will be rewarded.
So, what do you have to keep in mind when you buy one or more indoor security cameras?
Obviously, if you search the internet you will find anything and everything that comes to your mind. I would not be surprised if there was a security camera that serves you a good cup of coffee while reading you the morning news. Innovative products come out every day and it is often very difficult to keep up with them. And to add to that difficutly, how do you weed out the ones that do not function properly?
You do not need to super tech savvy to use a security camera these days. Let’s jump in. These are three criteria that I recommend you to keep in mind when it comes time to fill your shopping cart with a handy dandy security camera.
CONNECTIVITY
Currently, most indoor security cameras are connected via Wi-Fi to the most used devices (cell phones, tablets, iPad and computers) so you have the accessibility of knowing what happens in your property when you are away. This is the main mission of connectivity, but it is not the only one. I see more and more compatible devices that utilize Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant giving us the freedom to take security videos live to any other device connected to the same network.
It is more and more common that the main storage of these devices is in the cloud. The form of physical storage in the same security camera with a memory card has almost become obsolete, but you can find one or another camera that still uses it. Read to the end to see my Honorable Mention camera that has a memory card slot.
Keep in mind that not all “clouds storages” are the same. They can even vary from model to model and give you the option to keep recordings for days, months or years.
There are fears about the security of the “cloud storages”. Speaking from my own experience, it took me a little while to understand how it worked, but I will help set aside some of your doubts. You should not worry about a hacking attempt on your cloud storage. Most companies and its developers have done their homework very well. The connectivity of the networks will give you more benefits than problems, and the problems are almost nonexistent.
RESOLUTION
Probably the most important thing when choosing an indoor or outdoor security camera is the resolution. If misfortune happens, the quality of the video and photo image is your witness and your evidence to protect you and your guests.
Speaking about the six cameras that I chose to share with you today in this post, the widest field of vision is 140.
What do I mean by field of view? The field of view of the camera, also called the view angle, is the measurement of the viewing area that the camera can capture. It is measured in degrees. A wider field of view means that the camera has fewer blind spots and can cover a larger area with each shot.
If we talk about the resolution of photography to what you should always aim is a camera that can grant a minimum of 1,920 x 1,080. Although you can find up to 3,840 x 2,160. The same with video resolution: 1080p is recommended. The resolution is very important. So at the time of purchase pay close attention to that detail. The resolution of an image indicates the amount of details that can be observed in it, and having higher resolution results in obtaining an image with more detail or visual quality.
VALUE
This is where everyone, including me, pay close attention. How much money should I spend on indoor security cameras? I do not want to waste my money but I need a device that checks all the xoes when it comes to safety and security for my family and my guests.
Many companies have created cameras of great quality but at lower prices. And the misconception is that if it is lower price then it will be poor quality. In this Top 6 of Interior Security Cameras I will show my top six cameras all according to three criteria: Value, Features, and Design.
When choosing a camera, you should ask yourself the following question: How much is it worth for you to have peace of mind?
The prices I will show you today range from $20 to $300.
Wyze Cam Indoor Wireless
Despite its diminutive size and bargain price, the Wyze Cam V2 offers great features, including motion tracking, two-way audio, free cloud storage, and a microSD Card slot for storing your video locally and enabling continuous recording. Day and night 1080p video is sharp, with minimal distortion, and two-way audio communication is clean and adequately loud. You don’t get interoperability with other smart devices or support for IFTTT, but considering the camera’s $25 price, it’s hard to complain.
Wyze Cam Pan
The Wyze Cam Pan gives you many of the same features you’ll find in the more expensive iSmartAlarm iCamera Keep Pro, including mechanical pan and tilt, motion tracking, local and free cloud storage, and time-lapse recording. It delivers sharp 1080p video, and its motion tracking and sound alerts works as advertised, but there is some minor barrel distortion and the CO alarm detection feature is ineffective. And while you can use IFTTT applets to have the Cam Pan interact with other IFTTT-enabled devices, you can’t integrate it into a dedicated home security system like you can with the iCamera Keep Pro. That said, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another pan and tilt camera for $35, let alone one packed with so many features.
Tend Secure Lynx Indoor
The Tend Secure Lynx Indoor camera is a neat little home surveillance camera that won’t stress your budget. It offers many of the features you get from more expensive cameras, including motion-triggered recording and two-way audio, and it uses facial recognition to let you know when your loved ones have arrived safely at home. Moreover, it delivers crisp 1080p video and offers free cloud storage, all for under $60.
D-Link Full HD
If you’re looking for a reasonably priced home security camera that delivers high-definition video and boasts an impressive feature set, the D-Link Full HD Wi-Fi Camera DCS-8300LH is a strong choice. For just under $60 you get sharp 1080p video, crisp night vision, motion and sound detection, and free cloud storage for event-triggered video. You can also subscribe to a storage plan if you require access to video that is more than 24 hours old, or you can pick up a micro SD card and store recorded video locally. In addition to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice support, the DCS-8300 will interact with other smart home devices via IFTTT applets, and you can create Automations to turn it on and off along with other D-Link devices.
iSmartAlarm iCamera Keep Pro
iSmartAlarm’s iCamera Keep Pro packs a wealth of features into its stylish frame, including motion and sound detection, a micro SD card slot for local storage, mechanical pan and tilt, and a powerful sensor that captures sharp 1080p video. It also offers a cool motion-tracking feature with a range of 350 degrees that follows the subject around the room, and it has a time-lapse recording option that allows you to view a series of snapshots taken over a period of time. It works with the iSmartAlarm security system and with other smart devices via IFTTT, and it comes with free cloud storage.
Nest Cam IQ Indoor
There’s a lot to like about the Nest Cam IQ. Its Supersight zooming feature does a great job of tracking visitors and matching them to your Familiar Face library, and it’s smart enough to know the difference between a person and other moving objects. It’ll even tell you if it hears people talking or dogs barking. Live and recorded video are sharp and colorful, and the camera responds to motion and sound events quickly with push and email notifications. That said, this is one of the most expensive home surveillance cameras out there. Plus, you can plan on spending even more for a Nest Aware subscription if you want to take advantage of all of its neat features.

Honorable Mention – Yi 1080p Home Camera
After using Nest cam for many years I tested a new home camera called Yi. It has been a pleasant addition to the system in my house. And for the fraction of what Nest cost it is a refreshing and reliable camera. Buy 4 of these bad boys for less than it costs for one Nest Cam. Does just about everything an average user will need from a home security camera.
So when it comes to innovating and investing in the security of your short-term rental, do not hesitate to purchase an indoor security camera. And do not forget to follow the AirBnb regulations step by step. Here is a simple but concise publication about it.
